Adeline Courtney Robinson has arrived!

And now we are a family of four! On September 21st at 6:15pm our world changed (again!) with the arrival of Adeline "Addie" Courtney. Adeline was my paternal grandmother's middle name and Courtney is my mother-in-law's name as well as many members of Tommy's extended family (his sister's middle name, cousin's first name, etc) so her name is very special to both of us. 

Addie's birth story (this is not going to be short...): I was put on the list to get induced for Wednesday night. The reason to get induced before 40 weeks was because Emma was a big baby (9lbs 12 oz) on her due date and I was worried about another large baby and tough delivery. Well this week in the hospital was apparently insane so we got bumped Wednesday night because my induction was elective. Thursday morning I called to check in and they said I would get in at some point that day but to go about as normal so I went for a walk and when I got home I got a call at 9am. I jumped in the shower because they wanted us there at 10. We got there at 10 and didn't get into a room until around 11:15. Well the doc on call that day came around 12 and decided that he didn't want to start with cervidil and go straight to pitocin so I was on pitocin from 12-8pm with not much change at all (sigh) so the doctor decided it would be best to stop for the night so I could eat and sleep and start again at 6am Friday morning. Talk about a long day. So 6am rolls around and they start the pitocin drip again. At 9:30 am the doctor on call that day came to check me and was surprised they hadn't done cervidil because I wasn't has dilated as they had stated. He seemed frustrated as well as me to say the least. He decided to break my water to hopefully try and get things going. Well around 12 I decided it was time for me to get my epidural. It finally got placed around 1. I had hit my threshold by this point. The doctor checked me right after that and I was only 3cm but was thinning out. I then took a nap to try and relax myself a bit. He came back at 4pm and I was still 3cm but was thinner (progress they kept telling me). I hit a mental wall at this point. I was convinced I wasn't going to progress past 3cm and I was going to end up with a c section after all this. I was really regretting having been induced to begin with. I was not in a good place. The nurse came in to up my epidural at 5:30 and we were just discussing when she thought the doc would be back to check me and she barely finished the sentence and in walked Dr. Marcus at 5:45 to both our suprises. He had been watching my contraction monitor (at 4pm they inserted an internal contraction monitor to get a more accurate read) and saw something (looked like nothing to me) that made him want to come check because he had a feeling she was ready. Well sure enough baby's head was right there and it was time to have a baby. The nurses came in to prep the room and we barely had time to process that it was actually time. I had a good feeling about pushing because I felt different than I did with Emma. The hour before pushing with Emma my back was in excrutiating pain because she was sunny side up. Addie HAD to be in a better position because I barely felt any pressure at all. Well 10 minutes later (3 contractions total) she was HERE! I have never been more relieved in my life. She was perfect and she was here. Northside now has the "golden hour" rule and they don't do anything with the baby until at least an hour later. It was so funny because the doctor and nurses were so anxious to hear her weight and it was going to be after shift change. She looked big. Dr. Marcus wanted to know so badly so he left his number with the night nurse for her to call him with her weight! Well an hour an half later the nursery lady came in and got started with weighing and bath. She weighed in at 9lbs 4oz and 21 and 3/4 inches long. She was only slightly smaller than her older sister. We enjoyed that time just the three of us. Addie was able to eat and we were able to just soak in her newness. It was pure bliss. At around 8:30pm my sisters, mom, Tom and Courtney all came in to meet sweet Addie. My dad came later once my mom could get home to relieve him since Emma was staying at their house. Everyone wanted in on the snuggles.

Saturday morning Emma came to visit and it was so funny watching her. She was so fascinated by Addie and wanted me to unwrap her so she could see her toes and fingers. She was really sweet and we are working on gentleness. Nana, mom and dad came with Emma. 

It was a long few days but all worth it in the end. Addie is such a good baby and we are all adjusting to being home. We came home on Sunday the 23rd and I can't believe tomorrow Addie will already be a week old. Life with two is chaos but beautiful chaos!

Birthday Celebrations

Mine and Tommy's birthday was Wednesday (the 25th) so we stretched out the celebrations! 

On Wednesday night we met Tom and Courtney (Tommy's parents) for dinner at Happy Sumo in Dunwoody for Hibachi. We were there early so we basically had the whole restaurant to ourselves (#babyproblems) and the chef at our Hibachi table to ourselves. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and each others company. Emma is not her best from 5-7pm so she needs lots of snacks and always ends up sitting with me. Especially on days of daycare because she doesn't nap as well. I know everyone struggles with that time of day with their little ones but it's tough when they won't go to anyone but mom. Overall though she was really well behaved in the restaurant. 

Thursday (the 26th) I went to dinner with some girlfriends to celebrate. We tried out Cooks and Soldiers. I had been really wanting to try this place out after I heard they opened and were owned by the same group that owns Iberian Pig which is delicious. We had a great night. The food was fantastic and the company was even better! The grilled cheese was to die for! Thanks to these ladies for coming to celebrate with me!

Friday night we went to dinner with my family. We tried out the new Mexican resturant in Town Brookhaven called Jefe's. It was good! The twins even came back from UGA to join us which was a real treat. I really appreciate them coming home to celebrate with us especially when it's their last semester in college. The food was good and the kiddos did great! 

Tommy and I sure felt loved and celebrated last week for our birthdays. I think 28 and 29 are going to be good years for us. Looking forward to seeing what all we have in store the next year.

Dad's 60th and Easter!

My dad turned 60 on the 20th and we've had a few celebrations over the past week that I wanted to share. He started his birthday by running the Atlanta half marathon. He did great and it was a beautiful morning! 

That night we went to the Balfours for a combined 60th and 30th birthday dinner for Dad and Tyler. The Balfours, Willis, Abernathy's and Williams were all there to celebrate (minus James, Claire and Whitney).  We had a great night with a Mexican feast and carrot cake for dessert. 

Then last night we went to Il Giallo for a family dinner with my whole family minus little man, Collier. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner celebrating mom and dad's birthdays. The food was fantastic and we were sitting at a round table which is always a treat because you can talk to everyone. My family is large with nine of us so it's nice being able to talk to everyone at the table. All the kiddos and grandkids got mom and dad a new record player which they can hook up to their computer to transfer their record files into files on their computer. We added the Adele album to their collection as well. 

It's not often we have all of us together for a meal so it was very special. 

Today we celebrated Easter and had a nice lunch celebration with some of dad's closest friends at my parents house. Mom made a delicious luncheon feast and I made the cupcakes for dessert. We probably had around thirty of us there to celebrate dad. It was nice to see our family friends that many I only see a few times a year. We had a great afternoon catching up and enjoying each other's company. Dad felt very loved as he should. We had a great day! 

We started our day at Mt. Bathel Methodist with Tommy's parents and finished our day with dinner at the Robinsons. We had a day filled with faith, family and friends. Happy Easter! 

Birthday Weekend Recap

This past Monday was mine and Tommy's birthday so we did some celebrating over the weekend. We were meant to go to dinner with my family on Friday night at Southbound but because of the weather we postponed to brunch on Saturday. The weather ended up not being as bad as we anticipated so I managed to make the birthday dinner for my friend Colleen. It was great to see my friends and one who came from out-of-town as well! 

Saturday for brunch we met my family (minus James who was on his fraternity formal in New Orleans) at Southbound. It was fantastic! Southbound is just a few minutes from our house and it's a favorite brunch spot for sure. After brunch, everyone came to our house to open presents and hang out for a bit. 

Saturday night we met some friends for an early dinner at Wing Factory and finished up our night with a Netflix movie and called it an early night to bed! MUCH needed

Sunday we went to church and then headed to our friend's, Kim and Andrew, baby shower. Baby Tashiro is due March 1st and I can't wait to meet him/her. I think it's a boy but we shall see! 

Sunday night I had a girls dinner with my friends for my birthday at Superica. It was really good! I had never been to Krog Street Market and was dying to see it and try it. It did not disappoint! 

Monday was mine and Tommy's actual birthdays. We went to dinner with his parents at Horseradish Grill. It was SO good! I got scallops on top of lobster risotto. MMMMM yum. 

So this weekend I was TERRIBLE about taking pictures. I think when you're pregnant and you don't like seeing yourself in pictures you just don't take any. I need to get better about it so that these next few months don't go undocumented. 

Speaking of pregnancy. I am 25 weeks now which seems so crazy. We are getting so much closer to meeting our sweet little one. I am feeling good most of the time. I am not sleeping awesome but that comes with the territory. She moves constantly which is reassuring to me when I need it. I'm getting bigger by the day it seems. Anyway! We have some things in the nursery now and have ordered the glider. Hoping for a crib in the coming month or so. I think once we have a crib in the baby's room it'll really feel real. We are off to Asheville this weekend to celebrate our good friend's, Kyle, 30th birthday. We are SO busy this Spring. SO many fun trips and times with friends/family we are looking forward to it! 

Family Beach Trip-North Litchfield

My Nana turned 80 on June 30th and to celebrate she rented a beach house for the week for my family at North Litchfield, South Carolina. This is our favorite place and we haven't been during the summer in years! My parents have property there and are in the works of drawing up plans for their home. 

I arrived on Sunday from charleston. It was so fun seeing Collier on the beach and in the ocean for the first time! We spent Sunday on the beach relaxing and enjoying the sunshine before the rain came late afternoon. We had shrimp and avocado salad for dinner at the house. The house we rented was right on the beach and great! 

On Monday I woke up and went walking with my family. There's not many things I love more than starting my day with a long walk on the beach. Everyone was at the house except Tomny and my brother James. 

We enjoyed a full day on the beach! Brett and my dad went golfing in the afternoon. It was so nice to get quality time with each member of my family. With Claire and James living in Athens I miss them so much. Monday night I made dinner for everyone plus my godmother, Lorna and her husband, Harry. They have a house a stones throw from my parents property. I made an Italian sausage and kale pasta with ice cream pie for dessert. 

Tuesday morning I had a hard time sleeping and so at 5:30 I decided to get up and watch the sun rise. It was a beautiful site! I spent about an hour sitting on the dunes watching and then did my daily devotional by the beach. Such a peaceful morning and great start to my day. Once everyone else was awake I went for a walk and wished Nana a happy birthday.

We really lucked out with the weather. The sun was shining and we had a nice breeze every day. Tommy made it just in time for dinner out to celebrate the big birthday! We went to this fantastic Italian restaurant. I had the scallops on a sweet corn risotto. Oh it was so good! 

I was so happy Tommy was able to make it!! 

Wednesday James made it in town! We spent the day on the beach and then had a night out in Murrels inlet with my siblings and Brett and tommy. Grandma and grandpa were on baby duty. We went to Wicked Tuna for dinner. We had fun but the food wasn't great. 

After dinner we went for a walk along the boardwalk. There were a bunch of people crabbing off the side. There are a ton of restaurants along the boardwalk and everywhere was packed! 

Thursday the boys played golf and the girls beached/shopped. Nana bought me and Bonnie some new Jack Rogers. Love my silver ones! Mom made shrimp and grits for dinner at the house. Claire and my dad left Thursday night after dinner to drive back to Atlanta because Claire's flight to Rome for her study abroad left Friday. So jealous of her adventures!! 

Friday was our last full day so we soaked up as much sun as possible. Shannon (daughter of Lorna and Harry) came and joined us on the beach. We stayed out in the wind as long as possible before getting ready for dinner out. We went to another Italian restaurant for dinner (everywhere else we tried was booked and so we were just pretending we were going with Claire!) after dinner we enjoyed just sitting and chatting on the deck enjoying the sea air. 

It's amazing how fast a week beach vacation can fly by. Everyone left Saturday morning to go their separate ways. Tommy and I went back to charleston to spend the fourth with his sister and her boyfriend. More on that later. 

It was a wonderful week filled with love, laughter and relaxation. I love my family so much and enjoy every second with them. Looking forward to another week at the beach at Thanksgiving!
