Weekend Recap

We had another busy weekend but it was great!

Friday night our friends, the Mitchlers, hosted a cookout. I made broccoli Mac and cheese from skinny taste and strawberry cake (thanks Jessica for the recipe!). We grilled burgers and had a relaxing night hanging out on their rooftop.

Saturday morning we drove to Conters for our tennis match. It was HOT but we played well. Tommy and I won 6-1 6-0. We boogied home to shower so we could meet up with friends at Top Golf. We made it on time so Tommy was impressed with my quick to get ready skills! Our friends, Tyler and Andrew Maxey, came in town for the weekend. We had a great time. It wasn't too crowded because I'm sure everyone is at their pools now that it's summer.

After top golf we came home for a few hours to relax. I did these shirts for a girl I went to college with.

These were definitely a learning experience as you have to take the pocket slightly off to monogram then see it back on. They turned out great! I did 11 of them.

Saturday night we had a stock-the-bar shower for Caroline and Drew. Some of their college friends threw the shower and hosted it at their house. They have a great backyard for a party. They catered with BBQ 1. We played yard games and hung out til after midnight.

(Love this picture of these four who have been friends for many many years. The ones on either side of Tommy were his best men, Andrew and Tyler)

A good portion of those that were at the party. It was a lot of fun and nice to see so many friends from near and far!

Sunday we slept in and then I had a shower for my friend, Meghan. She is getting married to my high school buddy, Colin, in August at the same place we got married. Her mom threw a great bridal shower at her home!
All the wives/fiances of the Mathieson house roommates. Me, Meghan getting married in August, Caroline also getting married in August, and Kyle who got married in March.

We rounded out our busy weekend with dinner at the new Pure Taqueria near us. We went with my sister, Brett, Collier and their friends Kelly and Andrew with their baby girl, Sadie. It was delicious and is an awesome new space!

Busy as usual. Looking forward to a quieter week this week. I'm starting my three weeks of alternating days with my mom watching collier as my sister goes back to work. I survived day one!

Cooper enjoyed having Collier with us all day!

Meeting Hylan Marie Coleman!

Today was a special day because I got to spend the day with some of my favorite people and their little humans! My good friend, Jessica, had a baby girl named, Hylan Marie, just two weeks ago. (the bows I bought her are just a tad too big ;) )

I was dying to make a trip to go meet this sweet girl so Lindsey, Catherine and I decided to take their three kiddos for a road trip to visit Jessica, Burke and Hylan. We loaded up Lindsey's car with the three kiddos and headed out on our trip to Sylacauga, Alabama.
 Woody and Gracelyn
Gaines

We came bearing LOTS of Sonic for lunch!

Jessica looks GREAT! I unfortunately didn't get a single picture of or with Jessica (so stupid!)

We got to Jessica's around 10am her time and played with the kids and caught up on everyone's lives for hours. It was as though I had seen Jessica just last week. It's hard to believe the last time I saw her was my wedding and the last time I saw Burke was way before that. He has gotten so big! He is such a talker and growing up into such a big boy.

The weather was beautiful and the kids enjoyed playing outside with each other. They all have such different personalities and it's so fun to watch their interactions.

I am so lucky to have all these mommas in my life! I was petrified going into my first year of teaching and the best thing I have gained from my teaching experience thus far are these wonderful friendships. Lake Forest brought me some of the best people I know and it's been such a blessing to watch all their families grow over the years. It's crazy to think I have seen these littles ones since they were just days old. I love to see Jessica, Catherine and Lindsey with their children. Burke, Woody, Gracelyn, Gaines and Hylan are so lucky to have these strong women as their mothers. They have been mentors to me over the years in teaching and in life. God has blessed me by their friendships and I can only hope I'm as good of a mom as these three are when the time comes for me. Today was a great day!

Ahoy it's a boy!

We are spending the week in Litchfield beach, South Carolina, with my family, Stribos', Swans, Balfours/Morgans, and Abernathys for Thanksgiving. A few weeks back I decided it would be fun to have a surprise shower for my sister and brother-in-law since our whole family and family friends would all be together. Last night was the night and it was a success! I think we caught my sister off guard. We did a big shrimp and fish fry dinner at the Abernathy/Balfour house. I went over earlier in the day to decorate and finish up the cupcakes and appetizers. Here are a few pictures of the decorations.

And the expecting parents!

We had a great time with everyone at dinner and they got some awesome gifts. Only a few more months until little man Willi makes his appearance. Nice to share the excitement with our family friends that we don't get to see very often.

More to come about our beach trip and Thanksgiving day in my next post.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Week in review

This week has been one full of stress, sickness, friends, family, and football. The work week started out with stressors that only a teacher in elementary school would understand. This time of year is when everyone is tired and ready for a break. Only 10 more school days until we get 10 days off and I think it couldn't come at a better time. This morning at church, the sermon was about fear and what we are fearing in our daily life. This whole school year I have felt from within and from the people around me the fear of the unknown. Education is a hard place to be in right now especially if you teach a grade that is tested. Georgia has made many changes that revolve around testing and haven't informed the teachers to the fullest extent what it's going to look like. This brings about so many emotions for so many people. I'll just leave it as that for now.
Wednesday, I could feel myself starting to get sick so I did something I haven't done in the past three years and I took a half day just to sleep it off. This made a WORLD of a difference for me.

I was needing some girl time with my college friends, so thank goodness Thursday was girls night at my friend Carly's house. Boy have times changed since first graduating from college. Four of us (we have dwindled because my friends are awesome people and have scattered themselves worldwide but sure makes me sad how far away they all live) sat around her dining room table with water and a little bit of wine, crab cakes, orzo, real napkins, and discussions about weddings, babies, and vacations. I wouldn't trade these nights with the girls for anything. It was just what the doctored ordered.

For the first time in weeks, Tommy and I had no plans for Friday night so we enjoyed some wine on the porch before grabbing a casual dinner at this place near our house called Takorea. It is a Korean Taco joint. I was skeptical but it was actually very tasty!

Saturday, Tommy enjoyed his usual golf outing while I spent the morning in the fresh air with Cooper before watching football the remainder of the day. Georgia won against Kentucky (Thank goodness!!) but unfortunately Auburn had a major upset loss against Texas A & M. Best part of the Auburn game was getting to hang out with my long-time best friend Katherine!

Katherine lives in Jackson, Wyoming, and is home for the next two weeks between her work seasons. She lives far away but we pick up right where we left off every time I see her! It was wonderful to see her and so happy she is home for a few weeks so I get to soak it up while I can!

Today has been a busy day from the start! We went to the 8:45 service with Bonnie and Brett. Tommy and I then went across to the Sanctuary for the beginning of the 10:00 service to see a dear friend's youngest son get baptized! Gaines Alton Harvard is such a sweet little boy who has wonderful parents! It has been so much fun seeing Lindsey's family grow over the years!
After seeing Gaines get baptized we scooted out the back of the church and headed for Dahlonega for the day with my family. My mother loves to go to the mountains in the fall to see the changing of the leaves so she made a reservation at Montaluce Winery (where my sister got married on June 2, 2012) for the whole family for lunch. The weather was beautiful but more importantly I got to spend the day with my whole family! The twins came home for the night so they were able to join us as well. We enjoyed delicious food, tasty wine, beautiful views, and family fellowship. Was a great way to end the weekend! Looking forward to heading to Litchfield in two weeks to spend an entire week with my family. There is nothing I enjoy more!

Blogger Beginner

After much thought, I've decided I would like to document the comings and goings in my life as a newlywed and share the things going on in the Robinson family!

I have many friends who have wonderful blogs about their families that I feel like when the time comes for Tommy and I to start a family I would like to already have our blog started! You can go  here and here to read my friends Lindsey and Jessica's blogs. They started out their blogging days when they were teaching and I have learned so much from them both over the years.

Tommy and I have been married now for 4 and a half months which seems crazy. I feel like wedding day was last week. We have been SO busy since our wedding with travels to Jamaica for our honeymoon, Lake Chatuge with the Abernathy and Balfour families, The Mitchler wedding in Atlanta, Greenville for Kyle and Andrew's engagement party, The Sullivan wedding in Decatur, Labor Day lake visits with both our friend groups, Chattanooga for Beth's (my sister-in-law) iron man race, Lake Rabun to the Stelling house, beach with the Hartmans, and football games in between. It has been a busy 4 months but anyone who knows us knows we wouldn't want it any other way!

 Garth Brooks Concert

There are lots of exciting things happening in our family these days too. My sister, Bonnie, and her husband, Brett, are expecting their first child in March of 2015. VERY soon we will find out what sex the baby is which I just can't wait for! I am going to say it here first but I have a hunch it is going to be a girl. Either way I  am SO excited about becoming an aunt.

Tommy's sister, Beth, has bought a house and moved to Charleston, South Carolina. We can't wait for frequent trips to the beach to visit her!

I know this blog is chock-full of things but I wanted to start my blogging off with a bang.

Lots of great things going on in our lives and we are so lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family members.
