Weekend Recap: Showers and Mother's Day

This past weekend was a BUSY one for the Robinson household. On Friday we just took it easy at home because I needed to prep for the shower I was hosting the next day. We watched "The Greatest Showman" finally and my husband felt betrayed afterwards because I didn't really explain what exactly it was. The music was SO good! 

Saturday morning I got up before Emma to shower because I just knew the morning would be hectic. Tommy was playing in the semi-finals tennis playoffs and I had to get the rest of my things ready for the shower before running Emma to my parents to nap then drive to Grant Park area where I was hosting my friend Audrey's shower. Audrey is one of my dear friends from college who lives in Kansas City and expecting her first child (baby girl!) in August. Me and two other good college girlfriends hosted a shower for her. It was small but wonderful! It was so good to see Audrey and get to spend some time with my girlfriends and their moms. It was the perfect afternoon!

I had to scoot home around 5 to get home to refresh before leaving for Decatur for a couples baby shower for our friends Caroline and Drew who are expecting their first child (Maggie!) in July. Tommy got home from getting Emma and running and errand at 5:25 and our sitter arrived at 5:30. Like I said, busy day! We both freshened up and headed out with the Hartmans to the shower. Nice to have an adult night out and to celebrate Maggie!

Sunday morning was a beautifully relaxed morning with my little family. We went to J Christophers early for breakfast (with everyone else with little children), ran home to scoop Cooper up, then headed to the river to let him swim and let Emma splash around in the water. The weather has been so warm lately this sounded like the perfect morning to me. We came home and Emma played some more outside with her water table and we hosed Cooper off before Emma napped. 

After her nap we headed to my parents house for an early dinner with my whole family (minus James) and Tommy's parents. It was the perfect end to the day to be with my loved ones. We sat outside and enjoyed curried kebabs by my dad and some summer salads. It was the perfect Mother's Day for me. Tommy and Emma made me feel very special and loved. Can't believe next Mother's day I will be a mother of two. Still wrapping my head around that! 

Mother's Day is so hard for so many around me. Just wanting to send my love to those with hard circumstances on holidays like this. posted this on my instagram Sunday because it just spoke to me! 

{My First} Mother's Day

On Mother's Day last year I was anxiously awaiting Emma's arrival. Emma made her grand entrance into the world two days after Mother's Day last year so this was my first Mother's Day with a baby in my arms and oh how sweet it was! We started the morning with breakfast (made by Danny and Beth) at the Robinsons. It was delicious! I didn't take a picture of the feast but there was bacon, sausage, cheese grits, tater tots, scrambled eggs, and juice. It was so yummy. Thanks guys! 

From the Robinsons, the four of us (Cooper included) drove down to Krog Street Market. We walked the beltline from Krog Street to Ponce City Market and back. We ate lunch outside at Krog Street Market followed by dessert from Jenis ice cream. Such a fun afternoon with my family. Tommy asked me what I wanted to do on Mother's Day and all I wanted was to enjoy the beautiful day with my little family so that's just what we did. We had yummy laffa's from Yalla. The beltline is so nice to walk on because it's wide and easy to get onto. It was a beautiful day outside as well. We all enjoyed ourselves!

After we ate we went home for nap time. We all laid down for a bit (still recovering from party time the day before). After Emma woke up from her nap we headed to my parents new house for dinner with my family (minus Claire who is in Europe for the Summer). We grilled out and enjoyed the pretty weather on the back deck. Thanks to all the men who cooked dinner. We felt very spoiled! 

And lastly thanks to Tommy and Emma for making me feel special not just on Mother's Day. I couldn't be half the mom I am without Tommy. We make a great team and I'm so lucky he's my partner in this crazy adventure of parenthood!

Mother's Day Weekend

This past weekend I was on my own because of the school Carnival being Friday night I wasn't able to join Tommy and his parents for a trip to visit Beth in Charleston.

Friday: School Carnival. It was a great turnout and the kids seemed to have an awesome time. It was HOT outside and so the Firemen decided to spray from the truck which was a HUGE hit! 

Saturday: I slept in! I enjoyed my coffee and breakfast in peace and quiet at home. Then I ran to the mall to make some returns before meeting my best friend, Ansley, at Chastain Park for a walk and lunch at Zoe's Kitchen. It was just what I needed! After my walk, I ran a few more errands to Target and Home Depot. I bought new curtain rods for the dining room and flowers for the yard. Soon I will show the updates I'm making to the dining room! I came home and made the dessert for our tennis semi-finals. I decided I would try the Watermelon Cupcakes from the blog Mix and Match Mama. After the cupcakes were out of the oven, I headed to my parents for dinner with my family (minus the Willi's). After dinner, I rushed back to monogram a few items for my friend Sarah that she needed for some graduation gifts for her sister-in-law! Phew what a busy day!!!!

Sunday MOTHER'S DAY!: I woke up early to get ready for brunch with my family. We went to my mom's favorite, J Chrisophers. It was delicious as usual! Then I went back to my parents to hang out for a bit before running home to change for my tennis match. I played with Katie Booher and we kicked butt winning 6-1, 6-1 fairly quickly so we got to enjoy watching the rest of the matches from the shade. It was again HOT outside! Our team won enough lines to carry us through to City Finals next weekend. Hoping to come away with another win and City Champ plate! The cupcakes were a huge hit! They were all gone from the tennis match. Sunday night Tommy and Cooper made their way home from Charleston and we enjoyed dinner and just hanging out for a low-key end to the weekend.

We missed having Bonnie, Brett, and Collier around for Mother's Day/ Brett's birthday but I know they so enjoyed getting to celebrate their nephew's first birthday, Bonnie's first Mother's Day, and Brett's birthday with his family up in Ohio!

I put these images up on Instagram yesterday as a way of celebrating my mom and Bonnie. I am so thankful for the unconditional love and support my mom has given me my whole life. I know I have given her a hard time in the past but she is my best friend now. I can't imagine not living close by and being able to grab a quick lunch or go for a walk by the river when I'm off school. She is such an inspiration to me having raised four kids while across an ocean from her family. I don't know how she does it all!

And to my sister, Bonnie, I have been amazed watching you transform into such a wonderful mother over the past two months. Collier is just perfect and you have really got everything under control. I am amazed and hope my first two months look as easy as you've made it seem! I am so thankful for your friendship and how much of a role model you are to me. I can't imagine living farther from you. We are so lucky to have you right around the corner. Thankful for the random texts I get each day and being able to rely on you always for a good laugh or support. I hope you had the best First Mother's Day! Love you so much!
