Life Lately

Here's a random assortment of things! 

Emma found her love for playing in boxes and she thinks it's hilarious. She saw the box from her diapers and went and got the toilet roll holder (why I have no idea) and dragged that around to put in. 

She has an obsession with shoes and her slippers. She will bring them to you to put on her and then she will find a spot to read. She is now OBSESSED with books and she delays bedtime every night by trying to get me to read "more, more, more". 

For work I attended a two day conference for Number Talks with Sherry Parrish and it was just great! She was so easy to listen to all day. I was so excited to hear from her about her new book on fractions, decimals, and percents. It was such a great workshop. 

The weather (pre-hurricane) was just wonderful so one afternoon we took dinner out front to enjoy the weather. It was just perfect!

Last weekend we went to Lake Sinclair with our Auburn buddies and the weather was so nice and peaceful. We enjoyed the sun during the day and football that night. The babes were so cute all day! 

On Monday the trees at our house were making me nervous so we skipped over the Robinsons because they have a basement which immeidately put me at ease. Hurricane Emma was keeping us laughing all day!

Because of hurricane Irma I got 3 extra days with my girl. I really missed my sidekick going back to work yesterday. Her vocabulary the past week has just taken off. She is mimicking me a lot right now and really soaking in so much. It's so much fun to watch. She keeps us laughing with her animal noises too. Elephant is just the funniest of them all! You can thank Tommy for that. Also her "jumping" makes me laugh constantly. 

We were a bit stir crazy at times but we sure enjoyed each other!

Weekend recap: lake edition

This weekend we went back up to The Stellings lake house on Lake Rabun. We always enjoy our weekends up there and the Stellings are always such wonderful hosts. Drew and Caroline always take care of buying all the groceries for the weekend and plan out all our meals. Such a treat! 

We headed up after work on Friday and got there in a little over two hours due to traffic and a major meltdown requiring the need to stop.  The group that was there this trip were the Hartmans, Drew and Caroline Stelling, Michael Sullivan, and Drew's parents. Another couple joined us on Saturday afternoon as well. Friday night drew grilled pork tenderloins along with Mac n cheese and veggies. Saturday morning we had pancakes, bacon, fruit, and eggs. Lunch Saturday we did tailgate snacks with beef sliders. Dinner Saturday night we got Louie's Pizza. Sunday morning we had breakfast casserole. We did NOT go hungry this weekend! 

Saturday we spent the day between watching football (UGA looked terrible), hanging out floating in the water, or just hanging out on the boat dock. It was a very relaxing day and I really needed the down time. Poor Bailey (Drew and Caroline's lab) was having some tummy issues the whole weekend so they ended up having to leave to go to the emergency vet Saturday night. Bailey must have eaten something that was blocking her intestine. They are just having to wait it out for it to pass. We hope sweet Bailey feels better soon! 

We had an awesome weekend. Thank you Stellings for always being such wonderful hosts. We love going up to the lake! 

Weekend Recap- Lake Edition

This past weekend we headed up to Lake Rabun to stay at our good friends, the Stellings, house with some friends. We left the Robinsons around noon after dropping Cooper off to get to the lake before I needed to feed Emma again. We got there about thirty minutes before Drew and Caroline so I just fed her in the car while we waited. We thought it was just going to be us, the Stellings, and the Hartmans for the weekend. The Bobinskis had something come up so they unfortunately weren't able to make it anymore. We were down on the boat house hanging out when all of a sudden we hear screams from the house yelling down at us and there were the Maxeys and Andrew Maxey and Christy Reimann! The Maxeys live in Fort Walton, Florida and Andrew and Christy live in West Palm, Florida. They surprised us all for the weekend but by this point I was apparently the only one who didn't know. Everyone is such good secret keepers because I had NO idea!

Friday night we just hung out on the boat dock then took a pontoon cruise across the lake to pick up Louis pizza for dinner. When we got back I put Emma to bed. We enjoyed some games and hot tub time the remainder of the evening.

Saturday morning Emma and I were the first ones up (NO surprise there) and we enjoyed a cup of coffee and some quiet time on the porch soaking in the morning peacefulness. It was such a great start to my day. 

Emma went down for her morning nap just before everyone else got up for the day. We had some breakfast casseroles and fruit for breakfast before heading down to the boat house to enjoy the sunny day. Caroline, Emma and I stayed back as the rest of the crew headed out on the boat for some skiing and wake boarding. Well TWO hours later they came back and we grilled out for lunch. Emma just took her naps down on the dock while we all hung out throughout the day. We had a little rain/thunder storm mid afternoon but it didn't mess up anything. We just sat and hung out under the roof of the boat house while it blew over. Saturday night we had chicken tacos for dinner followed by some Cards Against Humanity fun.

We had a great weekend with our best friends and I couldn't have asked for a better first trip with the munchkin. She did great in the car both ways and slept great at night!
