Life can be scary

So this past week has been one for the books. Being 37 weeks pregnant and full of emotions isn't the time for your sister (who is your best friend) to be in the hospital. My older sister, Bonnie, has been having a year full of health issues that no doctor has been able to get to the bottom of. It's been stressful, worrying, frustrating, and so many more emotions. It felt like every doctor was stumped by her symptoms and we were at a dead end with no plan. On Friday night she flew up to Ohio with her family to visit her in-laws for the weekend. I woke up on Saturday morning to two texts from her telling my mom and I that she was coughing up blood and Brett rushed her to the ER. She then was transferred to a different hospital to be treated. Not what you want to wake up to and cue panic attack for me.

I finally got in touch with my mom to get what was going on. They first thought she had pneumonia but when they tested her blood it came back negative (along with the hundreds of other tests she's had over the past year). They did a bronchoscopy to take some sample of the blood and fluid in her lungs and moved her to ICU. Saturday was full of unknown which was really scary. The doctors having heard her medical history were confused as well but they were determined to figure out what the problem was. She was getting test after test after test and we still didn't know much on Saturday.

Sunday morning she was told that she was going to need to get a port in her neck to receive some plasma transfusion treatments. This is when she decided she needed my Mom to fly up there because there was no decisions being made and no timeline as to how long she would be in hospital. She got her first transfusion on Sunday and my mom got in around 1:30am to stay the night with her.

Monday we finally started to hear some news but it started as a rough morning because Bonnie was told that she would need plasma transfusions once a day through Friday. Not a great feeling. I was at work and got myself in a state because being as far along as I am in my pregnancy all I could think about was how devastated I would be if I went into labor while they were in Ohio.

Yesterday we got some more news along the lines of a diagnosis and even more today. The doctors up there have been in contact with her rheumatologist down here and they are in agreement as to what she has. She has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called vasculitis. There is a treatment plan they are going to follow that will continue when she gets home. She has a long road ahead of her but I'm just so thankful they were able to figure out what was going on with her.

The only thing I can say at this point is there was a reason she was in Ohio and not here when all of this happened. Being hospitalized is no fun for anyone but it lead to a diagnosis because all the specialities were in the same place. She has gotten a bit better each day and is on the up and up thank goodness. Thank you for all the prayers, texts, and concern for Bonnie over the past week. It's been a rollercoaster for my family and as much as we wish she was here and we could visit her I know she is in good hands in Columbus and will be home soon. I miss her and she misses Collier more than anything. Collier has been getting lots of quality time with his grandparents in Ohio which I know they have enjoyed and it comforts my sister knowing he is well taken care of and he has no idea what is going on. I'm ready for my mom and sister to be in Georgia so we can wish for Emma to make her arrival. Right now I need her to stay PUT!

It may have been a long road to this point and will be an even longer road to remission but she WILL be healed. God has a plan.

Nursery Reveal!

Emma Claire's Nursery Reveal!

Easily Emma's nursery has become my favorite room in the house. I was going for a calm place that was inviting and warm. I think I have accomplished that! There are a few special touches in here that I wanted to point out as well. Paint color is Valspar's Belle Grove Sorbet.

View from the door. Rug is from Target.
I threw a few pictures in that frame on the left but will replace with a large one of us once we get our newborn pictures back

The last thing we have to add is I have the letters "EMMA" to go above the closet. Glider is the Quinn from Best Chairs that I got made by Brownlee's. It is SO comfy! I'm sitting here right now typing this. The toy chest is actually one from my parents house that at one point was in my room. I gave it a fresh coat of paint and it's perfect!
Bedding is from Pottery Barn. I am in LOVE with how it all turned out. Just what I was hoping for!
I've gotta brag on my husband here. He built this bookshelf and it fits the space perfectly! Way to go Tommy!
Changing table was a gift from my parents from BuyBuyBaby, painting is a Britt Bass print (she was in my pledge class at UGA)

I ordered the wooden monogram from Etsy and gave it a few coats of paint. Crib is a Sorelle crib.

This beautiful baby quilt was made by my Mother-in-law as well as the awesome curtains. We went shopping for the fabric together and she whipped up these and they are just as I imagined (blackout curtains too!)
This painting is very special to me because it belonged to my Aunt, Penny. It was in our guest bedroom but once we got the color scheme going I knew I wanted it to be in the nursery and it fits right in.

Can't believe we are only a few weeks away from bringing our sweet little one home and that she will be sleeping here in no time. This pregnancy has flown by but dragged at the same time. The anticipation now is what makes it go slowly. We can't wait to kiss her little cheeks and bring her home. We are so blessed and fortunate to have had a healthy pregnancy. Hoping the next few weeks stay that way as well and that I have a smooth delivery. Today I am 35.5 weeks along.

Weekend Recap

Man this weekend was BUSY! Tommy was away on a golf trip with his buddies to orange beach and I had lots going on here.

On Friday night many of the wives/girlfriends of the men on the golf trip went out to dinner. Ansley, Christy and I went to Elizabeth's before to give Christy her birthday present and just have a drink or two before dinner. (Water for me). Then we headed to St. Cecilia's to meet Kyle, Meghan, and Caroline. We enjoyed a long evening of food, laughter and drinks. We closed down the restaurant. It was such a fun evening!

Saturday morning I had Gaines Harvard's second birthday party. Lindsey did such a great job decorating for his Mickey Mouse themed party! Her friend Tippy made all the desserts and they were adorable!

I can't believe Gaines is already two. Seemed like not long ago I was visiting Lindsey in the hospital when he was born. Time sure does fly!

From the party I ran a few errands before heading to Caroline Stellings house. She had the girls from dinner the night before over and dogs were welcome. We sat out back with appetizers and lots of wine. Each person was to bring a bottle of wine in a brown bag for taste testing which was best. I brought but unfortunately couldn't partake. Only a few more weeks before I can have some wine! We enjoyed the beautiful weather with even better company.
Haha look at that drool. Signs of a good time being had.

From Caroline's I ran Cooper home before heading to my sisters for the night to watch Collier. Bonnie and Brett had a wedding so I babysit the little man. We had a good night of fun!

He is not sure about walking on grass.

He keeps me on my toes that's for sure. I'll be spending all day Monday and Wednesday with him since his school is closed for spring break.

Today I had a baby shower for my friend Laura from high school. I didn't manage to take any pictures oops! She got lots of great stuff. She is having baby Thomas in July. So fun having her go through this with me.

Now I'm sitting on the couch with my feet up thinking about what I want to do around the house this week to get myself more prepared for Emma's arrival. It's crazy to think there's a slight possibility she comes this month. I'm 35 weeks on Tuesday. In the home stretch now! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well! Now on to rest and relaxation during Spring Break this week!

Friday Favorites 4.1.16

Linking Up for Friday Favorites!

1.  My friend Jessica makes the most precious bows and look at what she sent me!! I am obsessed! Also Emma's very first Matilda Jane outfit. I can't wait for her to be here to play dress up with all the clothes and bows.

2.  Time spent with my nephew, collier. I picked him up from daycare Thursday and boy was he tired! So sweet.

Get to hang tomorrow night with him as week while his parents go to a wedding.

3. SANDALS yes that is because my feet are uncomfortably swollen from pregnancy. I need to invest in a few new pairs.

4. My Coworkers. They so sweetly threw me a surprise baby shower at work on Monday. They gave me my diaper bag !! And lots of little goodies and clothes. It was so sweet and unexpected. I felt very spoiled.

Going to get the bag monogrammed this weekend at Pottery Barn Kids.

5. Yeti or something similar. So my sister gave Tommy a yeti tumbler for Christmas and I tried it out a few times and knew I needed something similar. For Easter my mom gave me one called King and it's a life savior. I love ice cold water and this keeps ice for HOURS! It's just the best!

6. Tommy is away this weekend so lots of girl time, a baby shower and a two year old birthday party are on the books for me. This weekend also starts my SPRING BREAK! No I'm not going anywhere but I can't wait for time for rest and relaxation. More to come next week about the nursery and my comings and goings of spring break.
